What are eyelash extensions and how are they applied?

Eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes that are attached directly to natural lashes, placed 1-2mm away from your lash line, using a semi-permanent bonding adhesive to lengthen and add volume to the appearance of one’s lashes. An under eye pad may also be applied to cover your lower lashes.

Is the eyelash extension application process painful?

No. The application of eyelash extensions should not cause pain or irritate your eyes. Libre Lash uses high-quality, low-fume glue, which (unlike cheaper products) does not burn or sting. People with extremely sensitive eyes or eyes that don’t close properly may get some watering and slight stinging at the end, but this normally subsides within seconds. Please alert us if you are experiencing any stinging during the treatment and we will adjust our procedure to keep you comfortable.

How safe are eyelash extensions?

As the materials used are high quality and specially made for use near the eye area, it is quite a safe procedure. The eyelash extension  is also applied to the natural lashes and not the skin so it feels just like your normal lashes.

How long does the application take?

The application can take from 1.5 - 2 hours for a new full set of eyelash extensions. Infill appointments generally take from 1 - 1.5 hour.

 


Do eyelash extensions appear fake?

As the length and curl of the eyelash extension sets can be adjusted to suit your preferences and eye shape, the eyelash extensions can appear more natural or noticeable depending on the look you choose. Eyelash extensions don’t need to look fake.

How long do eyelash extensions last for?

Eyelash extensions generally last as long as your natural lashes which is around 4-6 weeks. Factors such as your lifestyle, facial cleansing routine, skin type and average lash growth cycle and type of makeup products you use can also affect the longevity of the lashes. It is normal to lose 3-5 natural lashes everyday so we recommend coming in for infills every 3-4 weeks to maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions. After four weeks, a new set of extensions is required.

How often are infill appointments necessary?

We recommend coming in for infills every 3 weeks to maintain maximum fullness.

I have had my lashes done elsewhere, can you infill them?

Yes you can! We are happy to offer infill on other good quality lashes ( (all properly separated from one another, no clumps or long twisted lashes) . However if the extensions are stuck together, excess glue and cluster lashes or heavy pre-made fans, which sadly many places still do. In this case I’ll have to offer you a free removal and apply a full set.


Do eyelash extensions damage the natural lashes?

When applied correctly by an experienced lash technician and properly educate client’s after care, your natural lashes should not be damaged. It’s really sad to see some unqualified lash technician’s work with improper application of eyelash extensions where they have chosen extensions that are too long or too heavy or not properly isolated.  If your eyelash extensions twisted, they feel heavy or irritated, there are some certain reasons for that, please feel free to contact us for an consultation.

Can mascara be worn with eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend wearing mascara with eyelash extensions as it can break the bond between extensions and your natural lashes, it can also  cause clumpy lashes. If you wear makeup regularly, please avoid the eyes area if possible and use lash foam cleanser daily along with oil free  makeup remover in order to remove the residue.

Should eyelash curlers be used with the eyelash extensions?

We do not recommend using eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as this can damage both your eyelash extensions and your natural lashes. If you would like to adjust the curl, please notify us at your next appointment.

Is it possible to swim, exercise or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Yes, it is possible as the adhesive we use is waterproof. Please be aware not to rub your eyes because the oil from your skin can break the bond between the eyelash extensions and your natural lashes

Can I wear glasses or contact lenses with my eyelash extensions?

Of course! Notify us if you wear glasses so we choose the best length for your eyes comfortably. You might find your eyes will be a bit dry if you wear your contact lenses during the application, but it will go away with our nano mist used at the end of the treatment.

What is the difference between Hybrid and volume lashes?

Classic lashes are applied one extension on one natural lash. Volume lashes can go from 2-4 lashes (super light) per natural lash and are fanned out by hand before being applied. Hybrid lashes are mixed between Classic and Volume lashes, it suits those like fullness but still look natural.

What do I need to do to prepare for my appointment?

Please clean your eyes and eyelashes before your appointment. Be sure to use an oil-free makeup remover around the eyes area. Adhesive and extensions will not stick to dirty natural lashes.

If I ever wanted to have them removed in the future, would that be a problem?

Eyelash extensions can be removed  by a certified lash technician, using a professional solution. Please don’t remove the extensions by yourself which can cause damage to your natural lashes. If you can not come to our home salon, the best option is to let your lashes grow and the extensions fall out naturally due to the lash cycle. Using lash growth serum will help your lashes grow faster and the extensions will shed quicker as well.
